The Dewar's Signature box—which contains a 25–year old Scotch—needed to immediately convey premium quality to the consumer. The design for the wood box was based on the idea of reinterpreting a Scottish tartan. Three woods were used to create the "plaid", with the logo embossed in the central panel. With metal latches to secure it, the hope was that the consumer would reused the box long after the Scotch was gone.
